A Word from our Rector

Welcome to Grace Episcopal Church, a faithful Episcopal presence in Hopkinsville Kentucky for over 170 years. Grace Church is an historic parish founded in 1831. Located in downtown Hopkinsville in the Diocese of Kentucky, the present church was built in 1881. The parish has been characterized by dedicated lay leadership, which continues in the church today. Grace Church reaches out to the community through outreach ministry and in special programs that enrich the life of Hopkinsville. During the school year, Choral Evensong is usually sung on the third Sunday evening of the month at 5 PM. In December, we host a popular Madrigal Feast and this year the dates will be December 8, 9, and 10, 2005. During the season of Lent, Grace Church hosts a Lenten Service of Noonday Prayer and Homily with guest preachers on Fridays. Luncheon follows the service in All Saints' Parish Hall.

While our history is significant, Grace Church is open to newcomers and visitors and to all who are seeking a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Grace Church is Eucharistically centered and represents the broad liturgical tradition of the Episcopal Church. It is a parish where people are drawn to know Christ and to make Christ known.

On Sundays, the Holy Eucharist is celebrated at 8:30 AM (Rite I) and 10:45 AM (Rite II). Our nursery for infants ages two and under is available from 9:30 AM until noon. Christian formation for children from ages four through twelve uses the Godly Play curriculum. This class meets from 10:30 AM until 11:25 AM each Sunday during the school year. This class joins the 10:45 AM Eucharist at the Peace. The Sunday Forum meets from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Sundays providing Christian formation opportunities for teenagers and adults. The Senior High School Youth Group meets Sunday evenings at 5 PM.

Grace Church founded one of the first kindergartens in Hopkinsville. Grace Church Kindergarten continues to provide quality education with a program for 4 year olds from 8-11 AM and kindergarten from 8-12 Noon. Information about the parish or kindergarten may be obtained by calling the church office (270) 885-8757. The church office is open from 9 to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
